For the first time in months, I have gone a WEEK without ice cream. A WHOLE WEEK. ZERO ICE CREAM. I’m not sure how I’m functioning to be honest.
This past week I’ve had tons of assignments due and a family crisis, not much time for an ice cream break. BUT if I could have any kind of break, it’d be a… Cake Shake Break (I spent 30 minutes coming up with that).
Portillo’s is a rather famous fast food in and nearby Chicago. Of course they are known mostly for their beef sandwiches and chocolate cake, but the best thing on the menu? The Chocolate Cake Shake.
The Chocolate Cake Shake includes a whole piece of their *famous* chocolate cake, 1494 calories, and all of my hopes and dreams.

This past week, all I’ve thought about is how much I could use one of those suckers.
Monday: Thought about Portillo’s, got kind of sad
Wednesday: Changed my phone background to a picture of THE Chocolate Cake Shake
Friday: Looked up on Google Maps the closest Portillo’s – 179 miles, 2hr 45 min
Saturday: Tried to mend the pain with Pad Thai (my favorite food) (it didn’t help)
Sunday: Sat down to crank out this beautiful blog post
This shake has the flavor of a creamy chocolate milkshake and actual chunks of famous chocolate cake. It’s basically milk and cake through a straw… but tastes much better than it sounds.
Moral of this blog post: If you ever go to Chicago, or anywhere near, look up Portillo’s and grab yourself a delicious Chocolate Cake Shake (or bring me back one).
(P.S. I promise that I will treat myself this week with some ice cream)
