Awkward Andy’s

Let me just start by saying that I’m in no way a food critic- or a critic of anything for that matter. There is nothing that I exceed in… besides ice cream. It’s the one thing I crave at all times of the day- doesn’t everyone? If not, you really need to, it’s great.

Whenever ice cream in Saint Louis is mentioned, people immediately think of Ted Drewes. Well, first of all, that’s frozen custard, you heathens.

Second, there’s a new man in town, and his name is Andy. I’ve been an avid Andy’s go-er for awhile now (no offense Ted). From milkshakes, to concretes, Andy knows his stuff.

Over the summer, I’ve faced my obsession with sprinkles. It’s like a new food discovery for me- I can’t have ice cream (or frozen custard) without those colorful, chalk-tasting bits. That being said, I have never ordered anything as plain as a cone with sprinkles from my man Andy.

Now, what’s coming next is the kicker– “We cannot put toppings on cones, ma’am.”

Woah. I don’t understand, SIR. They would save so many sprinkles by just sticking my cone in a pile of sprinkles. INSTEAD, this man gave me my small cone and a separate bowl of sprinkles.

Now, let’s get one thing straight: I am NOT complaining, because there were enough sprinkles to last me the whole cone, but all the kids are staring at me like I’m an idiot scooping sprinkles into my half eaten cone.

Chocolate frozen custard cone, BOWL of sprinkles

At least I was a happy looking idiot.
